Old Sol

old_sol_hen_house_studios.jpgSinging with the passion of Patti Smith and the power of a voodoo Queen, Jacobs and her band, Old Sol, have already carved out a place for her special brand of funk with audiences across Southern California.

Watching this magnetic performer in concert, with her signature mane of wild hair, while she grooves to the soulful rhythms of the earth, and unleashes that remarkable natural resource of her voice makes life long devotees of her audiences.

Although trained in classical jazz and traditional folk and blues vocals, Megan Jacobs has added a touch of deep funk to her intimate heartfelt lyrics, churning out her original tunes with a 6 piece band consisting of bass, drums, percussion, backup vocals and guitar behind Megan’s Wurlitzer keys or upright piano.

Jacobs’ music has also begun to attract the attention of LA’s musical elite, leading to guest spots with members of Macy Gray’s Band, Fishbone and General Public. This experience got her the exposure leading her to write and record with Andre Cymone (from Prince and the Revolution) and members of Ani Defranco’s band, as well as Tori Ruffin of Spearhead.
